Srinagar, Jul 04 (KNO): In a significant move, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday announced an enhancement of Rs one crore in the constituency development fund (CDF) allocated to members of the legislative assembly (MLAs). The Finance Department, in an order, a copy of which is in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) enhanced the annual CDF of each MLA from Rs three crore to Rs four crore. The revised allocation will come into effect from the financial year 2025–26. The enhancement has been made in line with commitments made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on the floor of the Assembly. While replying to discussion on grants of departments headed by him, Omar had announced enhancement of CDF by Rs one crore. The government has also done away with guidelines mandating that MLA must submit their list of proposed development works—up to the full Rs four crore annual limit—within the first 90 days of the financial year. Now MLAs can propose works under the CDF scheme throughout the financial year, subject to the annual ceiling—(KNO)
